9th INTERNATIONAL MARCH FOR THE FREEDOM

OF OPPRESSED MINORITIES AND PEOPLES

SATURDAY 8 OCTOBER 2016

ROME - 4 p.m.

PARIS - 2 p.m.

from Place de la Bastille to Place de la République

The condition of human rights in the world is getting worse. In more than half of the Countries and for hundreds of millions of peoples political freedom, religious freedom and economic freedom are denied or limited. Peoples and Minorities are persecuted and deprived of their right to self determination.

The Western World cannot keep being silent, a general solidarity is not enough, we must be aware that the defense of Freedom, wherever it is jeopardized, is a common stake.

Political freedom is a fundamental prerequisite of international stability, as the world will not be at peace until the political order, territorial unities and identities of Peoples are imposed by the means of force.

Economic freedom is essential for development, as where it is missing men and women cannot express their abilities and their initiative, which are necessary for the growth of their Countries.

Religious freedom is fundamental for the safeguard of all respective identities, as there is no freedom without identity. This year we shall also march for the persecution of Christian minorities in the world and to restate our condemnation of terroristic violence, wherever it takes place.

With this silent March, we ask the international institutions to make the defense of Human Rights a priority in international relations, whether they are political or commercial.

We ask the European Union not to express only in words its determination to “ build a world founded on respect for human rights”, but to take a position, taking concrete initiatives. In particular, we ask for the institution of the

European Day for the Freedom of Oppressed Minorities and Peoples.

Pursuing this belief we shall therefore march in Paris and in Rome, together with the Burmese, Cambodian, Iranian, Khmer Kampuchean, Kurdish, Laotian, Syrian, Tibetan, Uyghur, and Vietnamese Peoples and Communities.
